FLY THE FRIENDLY SKIES OF ... THE VATICAN

Vatican City, Rome (AHN) - The Pope has his Pope-mobile and now the Catholic Church is offering air transportation to holy sites for the masses of faithful to use.

A new charter air service to transport Catholic pilgrims to religious shrines around the world was launched when the inaugural flight took off from Rome to Lourdes, France with VIPs aboard at 11:30 a.m. local time Monday.

The charter air line, operated by the Italian Post Office, is expected to carry about 150,000 passengers in its first year will begin with flights to shrines in France, Poland, Spain and the Middle East and expand to serve shrines in Mexico as well, the BBC reports.
