BOSTON'S AUXILIARY IS COMING TO CLEVELAND

Bishop Richard Lennon has been appointed the new Bishop of the Cleveland Diocese to replace Pilla according to the AP.

Has he been sent to Cleveland because the scandal is not yet history here? I don't recall reading anything about settlements in Cleveland. Of course, I could have missed it. This article focuses on Lennon's experience with the settlements in Boston.

CLEVELAND (AP) — An auxiliary bishop who helped guide the Archdiocese of Boston through the height of the clergy sex abuse scandal has been named to lead the Cleveland Diocese's 800,000 Catholics.

Richard Lennon was to be introduced later Tuesday as the successor to retiring Bishop Anthony Pilla, diocese spokesman Bob Tayek told The Associated Press.

Lennon, 59, was ordained in 1973 and became an auxiliary bishop in 2001. He led the Boston Archdiocese for about six months on an interim basis after Cardinal Bernard Law resigned in 2002 amid the priest sex-abuse scandal.
