A DODGE, OR A REASON TO BE REFUSED COMMUNION ?
Cool, thoughtful and determined to skate away from politically sensitive topics, the man who could end up leading the U.S. Supreme Court for a generation said yesterday he recognized that the court's 1973 judgment legalizing abortion was "settled as a precedent."

Actually, it is precedent, which doesn't mean he likes it. He has stated the obvious, while at the same time actually saying nothing. Precedents have been overturned.
