CELL CHURCH
If you've heard of it, you know more than I knew when I landed in this website. Basically what it amounts to is a cell group that meets in people's homes, with a group member who is essentially untrained, taking the lead. This group then gathers with other small groups on Sunday for Mass, but the basic identity as a believer is not with the church but rather with the small group.
The lilnked paper associates this with communism, and indicates it is an outgrowth of a Lusanne inspired AD 2000 and Beyond conference of some sort, and also indicates it was used in South America to respond to the priest shortage. Which means, I suppose, that since we are dealing with a priest shortage, we can expect it to come home to roost. This is not good news, and in fact the linked article is titled "Second Protestant Reformation".
